Author Josef (Yossi) Porat, Ph.D. (born in 1951, Haifa, Israel) is an industry expert in the business and marketing sectors. After earning his bachelor’s degree in Economics and Statistics, Porat began his career as a door-to-door life insurance salesman. By the time he left the company six years later, he had become the Vice President of marketing. He went on to earn his master’s degree in Industrial Management and his Ph.D. in Marketing and, for the past twenty years, Porat has worked for financial institutions, insurance companies, hi-tech, low-tech, governmental companies, food, electronics, real estate and more.
A meticulous professional who has acted as CEO, Chairman, and Director for more than sixty Israeli companies, he possesses unparalleled knowledge of business strategy. In 2005, during his time with CSPC, he increased the company’s revenue by over four million dollars. Additionally, CSPC adopted ISO, CRM, grew to 170 employees and strengthened foreign activities, including new activity with NATO in 2008. Throughout his career, Porat regularly developed and oversaw business marketing plans and dramatically increased a number of firms’ profitability and sales. Porat’s approachability and ability to communicate the complexities of marketing has proven invaluable for companies worldwide. His expertise and spotless reputation are factors his colleagues and employers depend on. He is currently Chairman of the Board and President of Trainvision, Ltd., and recently served as an angel investor in Israel, China, and Europe.
He has authored three Hebrew marketing books: Chess of the Business World, How to Sell Much More Insurance and The Telemarketing Secrets. His fiction works include the novel, Screwed Mind, and three poetry collections. Screwed Mind has recently been translated to English and earned the distinction of being in Amazon’s Top 100 Thriller category worldwide. Porat’s second novel, Warm Sunbeams, was recently released in Israel and his first children’s book will be published in 2015. He has sold more than 10,000 copies of his books to date.
From 1974 to 1996, Porat served as a Tank commander in the IDF and was the founder and leader of a strategic team reporting directly to the IDF’s chief of staff. He recently interviewed about his recovery from cancer in a very touching, sensitive and motivating documentary available on YouTube.
Porat lives in Israel and has been married for over forty years to Sara Porat, Ph.D. He is the father of four children and has nine grandchildren.
